It’s simply an amazing experience to drive along the beautiful Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Now you can add a stop to your self drive and go whale watching in the magnificent Breiðafjörður fjords. You will both get the chance to see some amazing whales but you will also get the chance to see the beauty of Snæfellsnes from the sea.
This is by far one of our most popular whale watching tours. Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see two of the ocean’s top predators, sperm whales and orcas, than along the Snæfellsnes Peninsula coastline.
The great phenomenon of orcas converging in our waters, chasing harring, has provided a wonderful opportunity to see these wild mammals in their own environment. We get as close as we can without disturbing the orcas while we enjoy the spectacle of them feeding or playing. As we look for the orcas, quite often we will come across a pod of dolphins or catch a glimpse of white-tailed eagles hovering overhead. Diving gannets, en masse, is also a common sight as well and gives us hint of orca presence in the area.
The landscape is magnificent around the glacier Snæfellsjökull, and even more so from sea.
