Available: September – April
Duration: 4 hours.
Pick up time: We usually start the tour around 21:00 but that can vary, depending on the conditions each time.
Pick up location: We will pick you up at your accommodation in Reykjavík, Keflavík or anywhere near Reykjavik city.
Level: Easy.
Minimum Age: No minimum age – kid friendly.
Vehicle: Hummer or similar SUV / Jeep

Note:

• If you choose and we have enough notice we will try to bring some hot chocolate and maybe some other refreshing beverages that might help keep you warm.

• Spotting the lights is not 100% guaranteed.

• If you would like to catch the lights on film, remember to bring a tripod.

Tour Description

In this private northern lights tour we will go away from the city lights to try and catch a glimpse of this magical phenomena. This tour will maximize your chances of seeing the northern lights on your trip to Iceland.

If you visit Iceland during the winter, you have to get a good look at the northern lights. There is no better way to do that than go aurora hunting in our Hummer or one of our similar SUV’s.

Together we will see the northern lights dance above us through the skies. The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are caused by the collision of charged particles with atoms in the higher altitudes of the atmosphere and they are visible in clear skies from September to April.

The locations visited during the Northern Lights tour vary from day to day depending on weather conditions.

Since the northern lights are a natural phenomenon there‘s no way of guaranteeing any results of the aurora hunting. We monitor weather conditions and solar activity closely throughout the day. We use a network of aurora hunters to find the best spot at each time. We might have to drive between different places for some time in order to do this but you will be sitting in a comfortable SUV and your guide will do his best to keep you entertained on the way. If we find a good spot we might possibly barbecue some legendary Icelandic hot dogs or enjoy some Icelandic beverages.
